BOB WEST AND THE QUEST FOR THAT 9 SECOND PASS |
| |

All Drag Racers since the beginning of the sport have set personal goals to achieve, and many work dang hard to get there - if you're reading this you're probably one of them and know exactly what we're talking about. Bob West is one of those hard working racers. He runs some brackets, test n' tunes and works on his car to see just how fast he can run on a limited budget and still keep the car street legal. Bob's goal is a 9 second pass out of his Naturally Aspirated, stock suspension, pump gas, 3680 lb 1972 Chevelle he calls "Green Weenie". Bob called us up earlier this year and we fixed him up with a new set of springs for the front of his car to help improve it's launch. We hear the new springs are working quite well, as Bob has set a new personal best 60' of 1.325 after installing them. He's been seen carrying the wheels out & putting the fans on their feet a lot here lately. Those big wheelies are a good example of what the right spring for the car weight will do when you pack all that stored energy in there! As of Mid November Bob's not quite got that 9 second slip...yet! He did just run a 10.077@128.68 into a strong headwind last weekend, so we'll bet that that 9 second pass is just around the corner this year if the weather cooperates. When he does finally collect it we'll be proud to have been a small part of his success on meeting that magical 9 second pass! (KCIR 11/16/08) - Today Bob got his 9 second pass at KCIR in the cooler Fall air. The Green Weenie went 9.996@130.75 with a 1.457 60' tripping the beams with the back tires. Congratulations Bob from all the folks here at Santuff! Customer News - Posted November 17th, 2008 | |
PONTIERI RESETS NHRA PRO MOD RECORD |
| |

Tony Pontieri has reset the NHRA Pro Mod Record! Pontieri ran a 5.905@243.99 then backed it up with a 5.94 while racing at Richmond on October 12th and gained an additional 20 points for his performance. This brings him only 20 points away from rival points leader Josh Hernandez who slipped at Richmond with a 1st round loss. The team was having a great day after setting the record but ran into parts breakage problems during the second round ending their quest for the win. The incrementals on his record breaking run were .991 60', 2.605 330' and 3.888 to the 660' on his way to his record breaking 5.905 pass. We're proud to say that he Pontieri is using Santhuff Aluminum Coil Over Shocks on the rear of his 57 Chevy's record breaking run!
Congratulations on the new Record Tony and the Quality Compressor Team! Photo

Bluebaugh came from behind in points prior to the Sacramento Race October 4th, however the team was able to qualify 2nd with a 6.56@215.95 and tune the car to work with the track conditions a little better than their advisories during eliminations. Team Autotrader defeated Henry in a final round pedalfest with a 6.763@200 vs Henry's 7.444@167 to take the win and grab enough points to put them in the lead! CANNON BLOWS AWAY PROMOD RECORD |
| |

Scotty Cannon Jr. demolished the World Record for a doorslammer October 4th at the Shakedown in Etown Race in Englishtown, New Jersey. Cannon ran a 5.738@252.71 pass during Saturdays qualifying and won $5000 from Lend America for beating the previous 5.891 ET record. WOW!!! Cannon, who was wearing Santhuff Shocks on all 4 corners, kept the wick turned up during eliminations, beating another Santhuff Customer, Tommy D'Aprile who was running in IHRA trim and had recorded a best of 5.95 during the event. Cannon ran an unreal 5.771@250 beating Tommys 6.002. Despite his awesome quick performances, Cannon ran into problems during the final round against Von Smith and drew a redlight. Regardless of the final round loss, anytime you can drive away from the track with the title of "The Worlds Fastest Doorslammer" it's a good day at the races!!! In other news at the Shakedown, Santhuff Customer Ray "Hollywood" Johnson runnered up in Outlaw 10.5 and ran a career best of 6.878@199.08. Johnson, who has been using our rear shocks for a while now, recently replaced his front Struts with Santhuff models. We're happy to see they are working good for him! And last but not least, Richard Sexton racing in Gil Mobley's Outlaw 10.5 GTO broke the Nitrous Outlaw MPH record when he went 6.767@209.07 mph in the final round of qualifying! Congratulations Scotty, Ray and Richard!!! Photo

DON BALES SILVER BULLET REPORT |
| |

Hi Ron, We took our brand new SS/AH Hemi Barracuda to the Jegs Sportnationals in Columbus, Ohio for the Mopar Hemi Challenge last weekend. We have the new aluminum shocks front and rear. First pass off of the trailer, and the 5th full pass on the car, went 8.81@150 with a 1.19 60 foot. Came back during the heat of the day for the second qualifier and the three Hemi cars right in front of us blew the tires off. We went right down the race track with the wheels in the air to an 8.88 150. The three Hemi cars behind us all blew the tires off as well. The shock graph on our car looked identical to the first run. The consistency and control of these shocks are unmatched. That's why we insist on the best. P.S. We also won NHRA best engineered car! KIRK SETS NEW ADRL EXTREME 10.5 RECORD |
| |

Steve Kirk Jr. took his new ’63 Vette to South Georgia Motorsports Park ADRL for it's first debut in Extreme 10.5 and found it to be QUICK. Kirk qualified #2 with a very respectible 4.361, not bad for it's first ADRL race! But even more impressive was Kirk's performance during first round of eliminations where he broke the ADRL ET record of Mike Hill's with a 4.266@173.43 blast. To prove it was no fluke, Kirk backed it up in the second round with a 4.281@176.12!!
Kirk went on to the final round match up with Mike Hill, but unfortunately engine problems cost him the win... but regardless it was a great outing for the new car! Steve's running the new Santhuff Aluminum Body shocks all the way around on the new Vette, and we're proud to see him capture the new ADRL Extreme 10.5 record! Way to go Steve!!! Photo
